Leo

Leo Romero was a staff writer and editor of opposition newspapers in the Philippines during the Marcos administration, when press freedom was under fire. He has also been a Red Cross volunteer, an evangelist, a student leader, a union organizer, an organizer of farming cooperatives, an activist for mountain tribes, an environmentalist, and a corporate lobbyist. Leo has been working in technology since 1995. He moved to the Valley in 2000, where he currently lives with his wife and children.



Matt

Matt Singh is currently an AmeriCorps volunteer through the program Public Allies, which he joined after a brief career as a banker. He’s lived in the Bay Area since 2000, graduating high school in Cupertino. He went on to Foothill College where he majored in Japanese, and intends to continue his studies upon completion of the Public Allies program



Leslie

Leslie Garner is the Teacher to Manager Fellow at BUILD in Oakland. She teaches entrepreneurship at Oakland Technical High School and Youth Empowerment School, where she also manages a group of mentors. She graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelors degree in journalism and public relations. She recently completed a two-year tour with Teach for America and joined BUILD in 2006. She wears a necklace which bears Gandhi’s words: "Be the change you wish to see in the world”. For relaxation, Leslie runs marathons, averaging around one a week. Once she’s done saving the world, Leslie plans to become a stand-up comic.



Phyang200

P H Yang is a passionate photographer and documentarian of social causes. He was born in Hong Kong, and started his career in photography at the ripe old age of eight, when his father gave him his first camera. Since then, he has traveled to five continents, documenting his journey in photographs that San Francisco poet and luminary described as “most impressive ... a real knockout!" In social work, he has focused on the plight of migrants and of the homeless in the US, and on the education of underpreviledged children in rural China. PH supports nonprofits by, among other things, making his photographs available for exhibition, with proceeds donated to these organizations. PH is also an IT consultant, having held senior technical and management positions at IBM and HP. He managed large projects, developing systems with thousands of online terminals. These included multi-year projects in Beijing, China, under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program and the Asian Development Bank.



Kimbra

Kimbra McCaul is a student at Mission College in Santa Clara, where she will major in Journalism. Her interests lie mainly in the arts - film and music, in particular. She is a photgrapher, plays guitar, and designs & makes clothing. With her friends, she recently started a project to podcast videos about the local pop culture scene and extreme sports.
