Leslie Garner is the Teacher to Manager Fellow at BUILD in Oakland. She teaches entrepreneurship at Oakland Technical High School and Youth Empowerment School, where she also manages a group of mentors. She graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelors degree in journalism and public relations. She recently completed a two-year tour with Teach for America and joined BUILD in 2006. She wears a necklace which bears Gandhi’s words: "Be the change you wish to see in the world”. For relaxation, Leslie runs marathons, averaging around one a week. Once she’s done saving the world, Leslie plans to become a stand-up comic.
