P H Yang is a passionate photographer and documentarian of social causes.
He was born in Hong Kong, and started his career in photography at the ripe old age of eight, when his father gave him his first camera. Since then, he has traveled to five continents, documenting his journey in photographs that San Francisco poet and luminary Philip Hackett described as “most impressive ... a real knockout!" In social work, he has focused on the plight of migrants and of the homeless in the US, and on the education of underpreviledged children in rural China. PH supports nonprofits by, among other things, making his photographs available for exhibition, with proceeds donated to these organizations.
PH is also an IT consultant, having held senior technical and management positions at IBM and HP. He managed large projects, developing systems with thousands of online terminals. These included multi-year projects in Beijing, China, under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program and the Asian Development Bank.
