Introduction
The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) promotes an efficient, viable, and inclusive nonprofit sector that supports the growth, learning, and development of young professionals. We engage and support future nonprofit and community leaders through professional development, networking and social opportunities designed for young people involved in the Bay Area's nonprofit community.
Vital Stats
Today YNPN provides a wide-variety of services including: - An e-mail list where more than 1200 members exchange information and referrals; learn about special events and workshops; post and receive job announcements; and share ideas on issues facing the sector; - An interactive Web site linking the nonprofit community to information and resources; - Monthly networking social hours held at various locations throughout the Bay Area; and - Access to a wide range of career development workshops and panels for its members, such as "Higher Education Opportunities for Nonprofit Professionals," "Forming Your Own Nonprofit," "Preventing Burnout," "Finding Your Niche in the Nonprofit Sector" and "Unionization and Nonprofits." By fostering discussion, networking and information-sharing, YNPN creates a supportive atmosphere for members to make valuable connections. In the future, YNPN hopes to initiate several new services including nonprofit career mentoring, enhanced membership dialogue, and regular volunteer service projects. - A membership program that provides paying members with special access to enhanced professional development opportunities and financial discounts.
History
Founding Year: 1997
Formed in July 1997 as a project of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services (formerly the Support Center), YNPN San Francisco Bay Area aims to provide a peer network to Bay Area's young nonprofit professionals. Though YNPN welcomes people of all ages, most of our members are in their 20's and 30's or are transitioning into the nonprofit sector. Entirely volunteer led and coordinated, YNPN has grown tremendously over the past six years and has become an active voice for young nonprofit leaders in the Bay Area.
